Events in Florence on May 1

Born on 1 May as a time of international struggle of all workers, without geographical barriers,
much less social, to assert their rights, achieve goals, to improve their condition.
"Eight hours work, eight recreation, eight sleeping" was the slogan, coined in Australia in 1855, and shared
by most of the organized labor movement of the early twentieth century. It opened the way for general claims
and looking for a day, the first May, precisely, in which all workers could meet to pursue a kind of struggle and to assert its autonomy and independence.
The history of May Day is today, the sign of the transformations that have characterized the political and flows
social within the labor movement since the end of last century onwards.

Events in Florence on April 25

The Italian Resistance was the war of liberation conducted by all individuals, parties and political movements after the armistice of 8 September 1943 took up arms to oppose the Nazi-Fascist forces that held power in the central northern Italy.

On 25 April, National Day of Liberation from fascism, the museums of Florence will be opened according to when a public holiday, as well as Sunday, April 26th, the day ends the week of cultural goods, with free entry to all museums, excavations and collections Art of the State.
